Online Interactive Classes for New Parents
(Babies - birth to 8 mo.)
You might be wondering, "Do infants really benefit from being enrolled in a music class?" The answer is a resounding "YES!"
We are all born with the aptitude for learning music, just as we are born with the aptitude for learning a language. A child is never too young to hear and respond to music or language. Infants are wired for sound! Studies suggest that infants have remarkably sophisticated music responses beginning at birth. They may recognize songs, move their arms and legs in response to music, or even coo in the tonality of a song. As their bodies and nervous systems mature, they will show progressively more complex musical responses!
We know screen time isn't generally recommended for babies, but here's the difference: YOU! We give you the tools so that you can engage and educate your baby, but the most important thing to your baby is YOUR active participation!
Your teacher will be on the screen, but it is truly the interaction of the parent/caregiver with the child that is going to continue their music development! We will also give you lots of fun activities and ideas to do at home while we're all looking for WHAT to do!
As in everything, you are your baby's first and best teacher. But don't get nervous! When you sing and dance at home, you're showing your baby how to make music and that making music is important to your family. That's all your baby needs from you - musically, at least! (Food, clothing, and shelter are useful, too.)
Music Together® is an internationally recognized early childhood music and movement program for children from birth through grade two and the adults who love them. Since 1987, Music Together has been connecting families across the globe as they express and explore the basic human instinct for making music, and now serves 3000 communities in over 40 countries!
The Music Together Online for Babies Class
(for babies 8 months and younger and their parents/caregivers) is based on cutting-edge research that supports babies musical development and brain development.
The Babies class is a one session introduction to Music Together and to early childhood music development. The music activities in a Babies class are specifically designed to teach you how to recognize your baby's musical responses and to support your baby's musical development in infancy! After this one session, your family will graduate to a Mixed-age class.
The Babies class includes:
One 20-30 minute Zoom class with one of our fabulous Heartsong Music teachers. Your Zoom class will have a maximum of 25 other parents and caregivers and their babies who are also enrolled in your Zoom class! Zoom classes will be held at your registered class time. This will be a great way to make Music Together with a virtual class, and be live with your Music Together teacher each week. Your teacher will email you an invitation to your weekly Zoom class when you register. It won't be necessary for you to purchase any additional software in order to access this feature. All you will need is a laptop, cell phone, or tablet! You can also invite grandparents and extended family to join the live Zoom class from anywhere they may be in the country or the world!
One 20-30 minute prerecorded video each week. Pre-recorded videos will be posted on our website on Mondays by 7am. The video classes will be found on our Enrolled Family Portal on our website. Upon registration, you will receive an email Welcome Letter with a passcode for the Enrolled Family Portal. You can watch the videos when it is best for your whole family. The videos will be available for the entire 12 weeks of our Fall Session. Your passcode will also allow you to watch any of our other teachers' prerecorded videos that are for mixed-age classes, 0-5 year olds! So you will have access to unlimited classes each week, for the whole 12-week Fall Session!
Also found on our Enrolled Families section of our website will be additional videos including musical crafts, lullabies, song covers, parent education, and more
