Rhythm Kids® follows through on the Music Together® vision to help children complete the pathway of early childhood music development they began at birth. Students will learn, create, discover, and explore music, movement, and rhythm in this community-style class, familiar to those graduates of our Mixed-Age classes. They will experience drumming, song, and dance from around the globe, finding new ways to connect mind, body, voice, and expand their world views through music. By participating in group games and activities that are both enriching and totally fun, big kids will develop skills in improvising, soloing, conducting, choreographing, composing, and more.
The eight Rhythm Kids® song collections have some crossover with the core Music Together® collections, plus additional unique content. Session materials are distributed in the first class, with instructions for downloading recordings, accessing videos, and encouragement to use them regularly.
"My daughter thoroughly enjoyed the Rhythm Kids® class and I will continue to recommend it to others. Lots of chances to practice independence, be nurtured, and gain confidence musically."
"My kids had several happy years in the Heartsong family. They provide a unique blend of high-quality music instruction with warmth and joy so that kids fall in love with singing and making music. Carey Youngblood and her staff are truly dedicated to making a memorable musical experience for kids. The Rhythm Kids® class takes many of the same excellent research-supported education techniques used in the Music Together classes and adapts them to a more structured setting where kids can sing, clap, and play their way to a great music foundation."
"I've learned from over 16 years of homeschooling that the arts -- especially music -- are as important as any academic subject for learning, brain development, and the overall blossoming of a child. Music is both mathematical (cognitive) and imaginative (creative), using both the left and right sides of the brain, and the Music Together Rhythm Kids® Class has all of that. It's tremendous fun too -- maybe more for me and my husband than for our son! In each class we spend an incredibly worthwhile hour not only learning music (pitch, rhythm, theory, notation, etc.) and experiencing music from different cultures and times, but most importantly, doing it together."
