What: Songs, chants, movement, props, rhythm instruments, joy, and grandfriends

When: Tuesdays, 10:15 am, for 45 minutes to 1 hour, for a seasonal session

Registration & Schedule

Generations is a Mixed-Age Music Together^® class that takes place at an assisted living facility, and includes the senior residents, aka grandfriends. Grandfriends are invited to sit in a circle around the Heartsong families, participating in any way they can, joining in on the music-making fun. These classes create a joyful connection among all the generations present. Grandfriends' minds and bodies are engaged, helping them to stay mentally and physically alert while potentially stirring up cherished musical memories. The classes also inspire the facility staff members to weave music into everyday interactions with the residents. Heartsong families (children as well as caregivers) benefit from the weekly interactions with the residents, who become like an extended family.

Illustrated songbooks and recordings accompany each seasonal session as a cornerstone of the Music Together program. They are distributed in the first class, with instructions for downloading the recordings, and encouragement to use them regularly.
